Plowing into a new decade

Christy goes full steam ahead into the first new snow of 2010 and a new decade, via G-6. Click to enlarge.

Hopefully January 2nd isn’t too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year. As our first day out together in 2010, Christy and I found things to be pretty good over at Highlands.

We’re psyched for 2010 and all that it could bring. The race calendar is filling up, the 14er skiing season is right around the corner, a ski expedition to Greenland is coming together for this May and an even bigger fall adventure is in the works. As I thought about the year ahead while braving the wind and snow on the hike up the bowl, a Spectre of the Brocken appeared on the clouds below, which to me could only be considered a good omen.

The Brocken Spectre seen on the clouds below from the summit of Highlands Bowl. If you look carefully, the weather/radio tower and some people milling about can be seen within the aura of the spectre.

Cheers to 2010!

Hmm, the Spectre of Brockelmann… I thought that was something totally different. But nice (2) pices.

While they’re both derived from German roots, one is related to mountain weather and the other, Jack Daniels.

It was fun up there, the one plus to the driving winds is the doubling effect thanks to loading. Must’ve been kind of cold over in Snowmass.

Haha. Nice. Yes, super windy at Snowmass. Team Puma’s benefactor was nearly lost to the white abyss on the High Traverse.

Excellent–hope it’s a good year and also a safe one.
