Pete- You’re only lost if you say you are, I just tell myself I’m going a different, better way.

But I do turn on before the lunch spot after years of crossing that big lower chute all full of debris.

Ted,
Nice post. Two things come to mind…

1) How many folks skin to the lunch spot w/o their beacon turned on and on their body? I am one.
2) Perhaps getting “lost” on the ascent thru the timber is not such a bad thing? Guilty again.

Unfortunately it seems to be “scary moderate” everyday around here right now. There’s just not enough snow to bridge all the bad facets that built up during the first half of the season. It might not be until the full melt/freeze is established that it improves.

Seems like CB is doing much better.

Good post, it’s always scary to see your track get covered by a slide right after you were there. Makes you think, for sure.

I was speaking with a CAIC forecaster earlier this winter and he used the term “scary moderate”, as opposed to regular moderate. Maybe that should be an actual danger rating. Sounds like you had a day of scary moderate…
