Sarah- You’re gonna love it. Back in ’05 I paced Aron Ralston for that leg and it took 18 hours, I didn’t need to be as fast moving as I thought. Garrett’s way faster than that, but will still be going slower than compared to the Imogene Pass “sprint”, at least by that stage in the race.

It might make you want to do it.

Thank you so much for this report!! I’m starting to do my “homework” to pace an experienced runner (Garret Graubins) from Telluride to the finish, and even though I’m doing “only” the last quarter of the course, I’m incredibly intimidated. Your report helps me much better understand the terrain and myriad challenges out there. The only running I’ve done out there is Imogene Pass. This California girl will have to dig deep to find her Colorado roots.

Ted. Just saw your write up on last year’s HR 100. You killed it! Im impressed for sure. What a hard race… I couldnt stay awake during the climb from Ouray, kept lying down on piles of rocks that looked like pillows… Felt fine when the daylight came finally…. Endless stumbling out there!

Congrats on keeping focused the Whole race. What a monster. Hope to run with you again.

Joey- I’ll probably still carry a camera if there’s another HR down the road, I just need to use it a bit more sparingly.

Are you and still getting after it? Lake City 50 registration is Friday I think, maybe we’ll see you there?

Many congratulations. Superb photos and a great effort. I’ve run a couple of marathons but I can’t imagine 100 miles through that type of scenery…essentially four marathons in a day. Epic.
