This just in from Penn Newhard and The Verteblog- a three minute short video, documenting an avalanche burial and subsequent rescue, and the usefulness of Black Diamond’s Avalung. If you’re not trying to hide your Friday slacking at the office, turn on the volume for added effect, so you can hear the breathing and digging.
Yes, it’s a product pitch, but you’ll have to admit, it’s pretty convincing. If you don’t already have one, watching this sure makes it seem worthwhile. At $130, the Avalung II only costs about as much as a pair of climbing skins and could directly affect your own chances of surviving a burial.
Much like when Homer Simpson gave Marge a bowling ball for her birthday, and promptly headed out for a few frames to break it in with pals Lenny and Karl, I thought maybe I should pick up one for Christy(hee hee). After all, Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. Learning from Homer’s mistake, I don’t think I should have my name inscribed on it though. Good idea?
