I have to get in on this.
Like two college rivals, Vail is often the ‘butt’ of jokes around Aspen. Usually it requires a bit of creativity but the other day they did it to themselves. The potential captions and punchlines are countless.
I’d be surprised if there is anyone out there who hasn’t yet seen these photos, they spread across the internet and email networks in a fraction of the time it took to get this poor guy righted with his pants back on (which was actually close to 15 minutes). I first read about it on The Smoking Gun.
What could be considered real news here, is that Marty Odom, the Vail employee of Sharpshooter Images who subsequently shot the soon-to-be timeless images and released them unto the world, has unfortunately been let go. (story here)
It’s my opinion that this small bit of good humor in the skiing news is a welcome change from the endless stream of bad news involving avalanches and skier tragedies lately. Don’t fire the guy just because he put the Vail Resorts PR team to work.
