Who said Christmas is just for kids?
Not Amy and Neal. With a little supervisory help from the grandparents, and with a few hours free before starting Christmas dinner, they left Reed and Nina to play with presents and snuck out in seek of their own.
It looks like Amy got what she wanted.
Having just wrapped up a casual-paced morning of gifts and coffee, Christy and I headed to Highlands with the same idea, for some Christmas turns in the G zones.
We quickly found our like-minded friends en route to the top of the bowl.
Here(right), Neal comes up for breath.
With such bad weather(40-50 mph winds atop the bowl) and an even worse weather set to arrive, we had the mountain largely to ourselves.
I can recall Neal being somewhat naughty on several occcasions last year, I guess it went unnoticed because he definitely didn’t deserve this.
It’s the only explanation for this photo, Santa must not have been paying attention.

wow,that is some serious snow. E N J O Y !
Neal – you told me that you were going to work.
He was working- at something other than you thought. He was working to keep his head above he snow and not drown.
You could take it as another example of Neal’s ‘naughtiness’. Next year he’s getting coal in his stocking for sure!
In addition to not drowning, I was working on my left hand position… it really bothered me all summer long and I wanted to get after it right away so that the problem doesn’t spread over to my right hand. The guy I talked to about it thought a few hundred Bowl laps would go a long way to solving the problem. This is a serious concern for me and I think I should heed his advise. You just can’t be too careful with these things you know…
It’s OK Neal. We’ll get through this together. It’s going to be a long, hard process.
Neal – I suggest you try skiing on the other side of the trail.
We had ALMOST the SAME experience last weekend at Yawgoo Valley here in Rhode Island.
Epic, really.
Happy New Year!
Kind of like that day at Okemo, skiing Papoose, back in ’77? Happy New Year indeed.
